About Jamie Penner

Jamie Penner is a Métis musician, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist based in Nanaimo, British Columbia. Working from his studio, The Rock Quarry, he crafts guitar-forward music that blends classic rock power with cinematic atmosphere and modern synth textures. Since his 2020 debut Out of Curiosity, Jamie has built a catalog that balances melody, tone, and feel across releases including Odyssey, No Words, and Reimagine.

In 2025 he released Something a Little Different followed by Modern Retroism, a retro-futurist set that pairs expressive guitars with spacious keys and rhythm work designed for repeat listening. The music nods to ’70s and ’80s influences while sounding firmly present-tense, with layered arrangements that favour dynamics and songcraft over flash.

Jamie is currently working on a new guitar-centric album with a more rock-driven vibe, expected for release in 2026. A hands-on creator, he often writes, records, and mixes his releases himself. In the studio he relies on Line 6 Helix processors for flexible amp and effects tones, and he records with Fender, EVH, and Eastman guitars to cover everything from glassy cleans to saturated lead work. The result is music that moves between riff-driven rock and cinematic ambience while staying personal and emotionally grounded.
